Homemade Halloween Banner Fun for Kids
Christmas time always brought that little bit of excitement in creating your own personal, creative homemade decorations. Sure, they may not have been as shiny and fancy as the new store bought decorations. However, the glowing smile they brought to the youngsters face made them ten times as better than those store bought decorations. So, why should this spectacular joy be saved for Christmas, and Christmas alone? We should be able to savor this kind of joy on all holidays! St.Patricks Day, July 4th, Halloween, you name it. The sky is the limit when it comes to creating homemade decorations, they are only limited by your creativity. Halloween always brings a wide array of avenues to express your innermost creativity. You can see this by driving through your neighborhood in yard displays, haunted houses, and home decorations. Within the week of October 31st, you can see it even in costumes that were obviously the work of someone's imagination. One easy homemade Halloween craft you can do is a simple Halloween "banner". This Halloween decoration requires minimal tools and supplies, and can be completed within only an hour. All you need is some different color construction paper, scissors, and something to hang them with. You can tape, or tack along the wall or use some kind of string to lead them through the air. String, yarn, even dental floss will do! (I favor the dental floss, as it is barely noticeable. Therefore, your banner appears to be "floating" throughout the are you choose to hang it.) First and foremost, ensure a parent or grown up is supervising, or actually doing the cutting out. Print out free Halloween coloring pages from the internet (easy to find, but I have included one source at the bottom of this article.) Trace them on your colored construction papers. Cut out cats in the black paper, ghosts in the white, pumpkins in the orange, and any other Halloween images you would like. Then put a tiny hole at the top of each of your pieces, place your string through each and voila! If you want you can draw scary faces, or put names on your cutouts. You could use white pipe cleaners and glue them to your cats for whiskers to pop out from the sides of your cat faces. There is an abundance of extras you can do to spice it up, just use your imagination. Hang your newly created Halloween masterpiece wherever your heart desires, and watch your kids face light up! **One place offering free Halloween color pages to print out can be found at http://www.coloring.ws/halloween.html |
